We are Heather and Logan Howe, newly married Coloradans on the move (in more ways than one).
We met in 1996, at the ripe old age of 5, at Nederland Elementary School in the small mountain town of Nederland, Colorado. We spent the next 18 years growing as classmates, friends, and eventually husband and wife. We have, literally, grown up together and we can not wait to continue to grow together as we see the world.
Logan is a physicist-in-training pursuing a career where he can do math and experiments all day, and get paid for it! He studied Engineering Physics and Applied Mathematics at the University of Colorado Boulder and will be attending UC San Diego for his Ph.D. in physics. He has spent the last three years working at NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) in Boulder, working on and creating Quantum-based Superconducting Josephson Voltage Standards (say that three times fast). Besides math and physics, Logan also loves cooking, Asian food (especially Pho!), hoppy microbrews, and traveling (obviously)!
I, Heather, am a teacher (or I will be when I get a job) waiting for the day when life is calm enough for me to have my own classroom. I love children and I can not wait to dedicate my life to them and their wonderful and crazy thoughts and minds. I also attended the University of Colorado Boulder, studying History and Elementary Education. However, I spent as much time working as I did studying and was fortunate enough to work with I Have a Dream Foundation Boulder with 60 AMAZING 3rd-5th graders as well as WONDERFUL AmeriCorps members (and a super hairy boss who set a very high bar for how a boss should be). This job exposed me to other cultures and ways of life and only strengthened my love for teaching (and travel). Besides history and children, I love popcorn (it is a major food group in my life), Prosecco, Netflix, and sushi. I also have, at times, an overwhelming obsession with guide books and I often ponder how many more books I have to check out before the Boulder Public Library constructs a statue of me (my check out list must be nearing the 5,000 mark at this point).
We will be moving to sunny San Diego, California this fall to begin the next chapter in our lives. In the meantime we are homeless transients, living out of suitcases and Logan’s parents basement. And so the next journey begins, or continues (depending on how you look at it).
