We dropped by Pisa on the way from Lucca to the Cinque Terre for a three-hour train layover to see the tower and take the compulsory “tourist holding up the tower” shot. However, my physicist husband decided that the tower could withstand leaning just a little bit further, so we decided to give it a few kicks, thereby increasing its leaning angle and drawing in more tourists. It was really a community service we performed.
Our little excursion to the tower took about an hour (I did not rhyme that on purpose) so in order to kill a little more time before our train we went to the University’s biological garden. For only 1.50 euro we had a place to sit under some trees and read and watch baby turtles swim and sun themselves.
